CrashLand Prototype

About

In CrashLand you fight to be the last vehicle on the map in a match-based battle royale combat. You only have one vehicle, so make it count!

The concept for the game takes combat inspiration from Twisted Metal then mixes with this with the battle-royale format such as in Apex Legends and Fortnite.

This is an early prototype of the game where I'm experimenting with mechanics. The focus of this demo is to test and iterate on the core gameplay and networking. 

Current state

The current prototype includes matchmaking to place players into matches. At the start of the match, all players will spawn in at the same time after a short waiting room period. In each match player's have infinite ammo and only one life. Once a player dies, they can spectate the match as played by a random active player.

How to play

When you start the game, you'll see a "Find Match" button after the main menu loads. If you click this button, you'll be queued up for matchmaking. After some time you should see a "Connecting..." message and then you'll see a game scene where you can't do anything. At this point, the game will continue to look for at least one other player to join you before started. The overall matchmaking flow is like this:

1. 1 Player found, this means it created a match
2. Second player joins the match. A 30 second time starts to wait for more. Once elapsed, the match starts and all players spawn in
3. If a third player joins, the match timer shifts to 3 seconds. After 3 seconds, all players spawn in and can play.
