Looking back on the CrashLand Prototype

Hey everyone, Kyle here. I'm the creator of CrashLand. I have a quick update for you on the future of the project.

Now let's get started. I wanted to take a moment to first thank everyone that took a chance on the game prototype and played it over the past several weeks. The feedback from the playtests over these past weeks has been really useful in identifying next steps for the project. Speaking of, let's get into what's coming.

What's changing

Based on feedback, I'll be changing up the game mode for CrashLand to shift to a 4-player co-operative mode rather than the original battle royale idea. That also means that for the prototype on this page has reached it's final state. I'll be sure to write another announcement post on where you can find the new game concept. I'll leave the prototype game clients up here for now if you'd still like to try them out. If you do, please leave a comment letting me know what you think!

From the technical side, I've also decided to shift out of Unity and into Unreal Engine. The primary reason for this is that I found Unreal as a whole to do more for you at the engine level on several fronts, from networking to cinematics. 

Lore teaser

I feel this style will both let me best incorporate some of your feedback, but also tell a bit more of a story. The game lore isn't fully realized, but here's a little teaser for what I'm thinking:

As a player, you are a relic hunter in a sci-fi world. You and your fellow hunters travel across the vast world to sites of particular interest where you must work together to unearth the relics rumored to exist. As a team, you'll work together to recover the relics and bring them back.
