Smoke

Smoke takes place in an alternate future where the industrial revolution never slowed down. 

The Industrial Revolution never slowed down. No climate controls. No worker safety commissions. Now, over 200 years later, Earth is covered with factories which constantly pump toxic smog into the air. The rich left the planet for space, using Earth to fuel their ever growing needs. The working population lives underground with little access to technology despite the advances of the outer worlds. They rely on shoddy purification systems to maintain almost-breathable air.

Unfortunately for you, as an underworld resident, yours just broke. You have to use your wits to scavenge equipment from the dilapidated environment to fix your air purifier and survive another day.

Almost an Epic MegaJam submission, Smoke was born when two strangers decided to make a game together halfway through a game jam. Inspired by the wildfire smoke from Fall 2023 wildfires on the US West Coast
